Yaya Touré on Pep Guardiola: “He’s too smart to be caught. He will never admit that he does not like Africans. But the day he picks a team with five Africans, I promise I’ll send him a cake!”

Speaking to the Sun, Toure’s father Mory said: “I’m worried about him. It’s a problem. We ask Guardiola to come down to earth.

“He’s the boss I ask him for forgiveness, to let my son do his work.”

Toure has just one year left on his contract but has so far only made one appearance in City’s second leg play-off against Steaua Bucharest.

Regarded as one of the club’s greatest players, Toure has won two Premier League titles with the side but Guardiola has said the Ivorian will not play under him again until Seluk apologies for his comments.

Seluk has openly refused to do so, however, and has instead claimed that the Catalan should apologise to Manuel Pellegrini for taking his job.

The petulant war of words has left Toure out in the cold with his long-term prospects at City looking increasingly bleak. The bad blood between Seluk and Guardiola emerged after the latter left Toure out of his 25-man UEFA Champions League squad, resulting in a clash that would see both men refuse to step down in their debate.

Seluk went on to further the notion that he wishes to see his client back playing in the first team swiftly, and thus an apology seems the only route by which that result can come about:

I am not an unreasonable man. I don’t think that Pep will ever love me, but the most important thing is that we try to forgive what has happened in the past and develop a new relationship.

This is a genuine gesture. I hope Pep accepts that my hope is that we can start with a clean page.

The Russian added his public message was sent out after Guardiola “hasn’t returned” his calls and that his desire is to see Toure back helping the Citizens to “win more trophies.”

Despite the impression that this argument depends upon the manager and the player’s agent, Sky Sports Spanish football expert has said the future depends on the player instead:

Manchester City have been thriving in Toure’s absence nonetheless and are currently top of the Premier League while keeping alive their UEFA Champions League hosts after beating Barcelona 3-1 on Tuesday.
