🚨 Xavi knows that his job will be in danger if Barcelona don’t win against Porto tomorrow.
Xavi, who helped Barcelona win La Liga the previous season, hasn’t seen his team put on a strong showing, so he’ll do everything in his power to help them defeat Porto in the Champions League.
The Spanish powerhouses are top of the Champions League group stage and fourth in La Liga. Barcelona’s season hasn’t started off well, and Xavi needs things to turn around if he wants to keep his job.
It has appeared forlorn for Barcelona, who added Joao Felix and Cancelo to their forward lineup this summer. With Ousmane Dembele’s departure on the left, Lamine Yamal emerged and is now a regular starter for the team.
The draw heightens the uncertainties around Barcelona, who haven’t played well in a few weeks and will take on Porto on Tuesday in an attempt to advance to the Champions League knockout phase.
And in case Barcelona decide to not bet on his continuity, club president Joan Laporta already has a successor in mind.
Indeed, as per Albert Masnou of SPORT, Laporta sees current Barça Atletic manager Rafa Marquez as his favourite to succeed Xavi as the first-team boss in the future.
This report comes after the Barcelona president was in Palamós this past weekend, watching Barça Atletic play Cornelia away from home for the first time.
Laporta is not a regular at Barcelona Atlètic matches when they are played at home and much less when they are played outside the Ciutat Esportiva. Therefore, his visit to watch the Cornelia game must be considered extraordinary.
