An Igbo man based in the United States of America (USA), has been appointed as person who will be in charge of a US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer. He takes office in April.






Nigerians born in diaspora and Nigerians born in Nigeria are just making the country proud. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala made Nigeria proud after her appointment as the first woman and first African Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).


A Nigerian-American man, by name Kelechi Ndukwe, has been appointed as the first Nigerian-American to take command of a US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer – (USS DDG-97). He takes office on the 2nd of April 2021.

He is the first Nigerian-American to take command of a US Navy Guided Missile Destroyer, USS Halsey (DDG-97).
