Authorities say 23-year-old, Zac Viramontez, died trying to save a man who also drowned at Lake Afton on Sunday.

The two men who drowned at Lake Afton on Sunday have been identified as 40-year-old Wesley Simmons and 23-year-old Zachary Viramontez.

Zac’s obituary says he was a “beacon of light and laughter” to his friends and family.

“His untimely passing occurred at Lake Afton, where he bravely and selflessly gave his life while attempting to save a stranger from drowning,” the obituary says. “His carefree spirit and kind-hearted nature were evident from a young age. With a smile that could brighten any room, Zac’s, sometimes insanely goofy, sense of humor left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of experiencing it. His infectious laughter can and will never be forgotten.”

Neither an obituary nor funeral details for Simmons could be found online Thursday morning. Some of his friends said on social media that he had a big heart and loved people.
