Igbo chieftain and businessman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has said Yoruba people are political rascals and would be handled.
Iwuanyanwu, in a trending video, said nobody has the right to take the life of any innocent Igbo person, saying that anyone who did that would be fought with by the Igbo.
He said the Igbo had invested so much in Nigeria and that they were not going to yield to pressure of people asking them to leave.
“Nobody has the right to take the life of any innocent Igbo person, all of us are going to fight the battle, we are going to face the person, never again, we are in Nigeria and have invested in Nigeria.
“And I want to tell those in Lagos to realise that there is no war between us and Yoruba, Yoruba are just political rascals and we are going to handle them,” he said in the video.
Iwuanyanwu’s comment is coming at a time Nigerians are calling for healing and forgiveness so that the nation can move forward.
The 2023 general elections have further divided Nigerians into ethnicity and hatred as the ember of tribalism is being fanned. He said the elders had directed the secretary general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to set up a commission of inquiry to find out things destroyed, saying “people are going to pay.”
The PUNCH reports that Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for the campaign team of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, last week, warned Igbo in Lagos against “interfering” in politics in the state.
Onanuga, who is the director of media and publicity of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, issued the warning in a tweet via his official Twitter account, @aonanuga1956, few days after the governorship polls.
He said, “Let 2023 be the last time of Igbo interference in Lagos politics. Let there be no repeat in 2027. Lagos is like Anambra, Imo, any Nigerian state. It is not No Man’s Land, not Federal Capital Territory. It is Yoruba land. Mind your business.”
