The response at the University of Oklahoma is high. At this time the University remains under lock-down with no victims or active shooter, as of now, talks are that swatting was involved in this situation.

A report of an active shooter and possible shots on the University of Oklahoma’s campus fired turned out to be “a bogus call,” according to university police.

An all-clear was given 89 minutes after the University of Oklahoma alerted students and staff of a reported active shooter on campus. In a tweet, the university said campus police issued an “all clear” after a thorough search revealed no threat was found.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Foster told The Oklahoman at 10:45 p.m. that the campus was secure, but said he could not provide any additional comment.

However, Foster did say the Rave Panic Button app was pushed, prompting an immediate response from hundreds of officers in the area.

Van Vleet Oval is a central green space for outdoor activities, according to OU.

A follow-up tweet at 9:45 p.m. stated the university’s police department was investigating possible shots fired, urging people to avoid the South Oval area and to shelter in place. OU reaffirmed that investigation in a tweet 19 minutes later.

As for official word on injuries, Foster said OU’s police department would be the agency that would brief the media.

“We just responded as one of the many agencies that ultimately were involved, and we are very happy with how well that worked,” Foster said. Shortly before 11 p.m. the school tweeted that campus police had issued an all clear.

“After a thorough search, no threat was found. There is no threat to campus. Alert has been canceled,” they wrote.
