Two suspected armed robbers this morning died in a police shoot out as they fled a crime scene.
Police spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Near Bagali confirmed the incident and said two more sustained injuries with one in a critical condition.
Bagali said the police got a tipoff that there was a robbery in Extension 10 where a businessman was attacked by 6 armed robbers.
He said they initially demanded money from the businessman but ended up fleeing with his two cellphones.
The shootout took place in Extension 12 following police pursuit.
The two deceased were shot in a yard they had jumped into during the shootout. Bagali said the police had responded to a report notifying them of a robbery in progress at Extension 10 and that when they arrived at the scene the suspects started shooting at them.
The police then returned the fire, resulting in the deaths of the two men. The six men had allegedly attacked and robbed a well known businessman and attempted to get away in a VW car. According to the police, two cellphones and three pistols were recovered at the scene. Police investigations into the matter continue.
