“They are the warriors (mujahids)” – Erdogan called Hamas militants patriotic organisation that defends its territories and people.
“Of course, we had good intentions, but (Netanyahu) abused them,” Erdogan said.
“If he had continued with good intentions, our relations might have been different, but now, unfortunately, this will not happen either.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his support for Hamas actions, calling the group “warriors” and a “patriotic organization” rather than a “terrorist group,” in a public speech he gave before his party AK’s parliamentary group on Wednesday.
He emphasized that Turkey does not have any issues with Israel but disapproves of military actions that harm civilians. In addition, the head of state also accused the country of behaving “like a terrorist organization” rather than a state and “committing crimes against humanity.” As a result, he stated that he would not be visiting the country.
Finally, Erdogan stressed that foreign nations are exacerbating tensions by claiming to support Israel…
Erdogan met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a United Nations summit in New York last month, marking a improvement in relations that began with a decision last year to reappoint ambassadors.
The Turkish leader did not say when he had intended to visit Israel, where Ankara had been eyeing joining a natural gas pipeline project promoted by the United States.
