In another news, Judge Arnoldus Phatudi is now being interviewed for the post of judge president of the Limpopo High Court.
A judge since 2009, he was previously in the Gauteng High Court before transferring to the Limpopo in 2016, where he’s been based in Thohoyandou.
Judge Phatudi discusses his vision for the Limpopo High Court, including dealing with problems of court infrastructure, trials date unavailability, and proposes virtual court and better coordination among stakeholders as a solution to some of these problems.
DCJ Maya asks if Phatudi asked why the DJP (a woman) didn’t apply as per the succession plan? Phatudi says he was “inundated” with calls that he apply for the JP post, and that when they approached the DJP she gave reasons of not applying which he cannot disclose.
