Juventus and France midfielder, Paul Pogba, has accused his brother, Mathias, of being part of an organized gang that has targeted him for extortion to the tone of €13million.

The 29-year-old made this known on Sunday, August 28, in a statement signed by his lawyers, his mother, Yeo Moriba, and his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, according to the news agency AFP.

This comes after Mathias, 32, posted a video online in four languages promising “great revelations” about the World Cup winner and Pimenta.

“The whole world deserves to know certain things so the public can decide if [Paul Pogba] really deserves the admiration, the respect, his place in the France team, if he is a trustful person and worth representing the world’s youth, working-class areas and big brands,” Mathias Pogba said on Saturday.

The statement said the videos were “unfortunately no surprise” and added: “They are in addition to threats and extortion attempts by an organised gang against Paul Pogba. The competent bodies in Italy and France were informed a month ago and there will be no further comments in relation to the ongoing investigation.”

France Info reports that during various interviews with the authorities, Paul Pogba is understood to have said that he was trapped by childhood friends and two hooded men armed with assault rifles during an incident in Paris.

According to him, the gang — of which his brother Mathias would be a part — demanded €13m from him and has intimidated him several times since, including at the Juventus training centre in Turin, where he told the police that he recognised his brother Mathias Pogba among the suspects.
