Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Hamas Activists occupied Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s Capitol office.
A group of veterans were arrested for protesting in Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s (D-N.Y.) office in the Capitol.
Members of the About Face veterans group came to Gillibrand’s office “to demand to meet, call for an end to the siege on Gaza and for a #CeasefireNow.”
“Today, I’m calling for more funding and resources to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome and for evacuation flights out of Israel to help Americans return home. I’m also calling on the Biden administration to swiftly deliver to Congress any supplemental funding requests to aid Israel. I’m also fighting to increase funding for at-risk non-profit institutions, including synagogues, to make security enhancements that will allow New Yorkers to gather safely. This is a moment to come together in unity and show the world that we are unwavering in our stance against antisemitism and hate.”
“She refused to meet with us,” the group posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “Capitol police were called. We aren’t going anywhere until she meets with us.”
The group, which represents veterans who are against war, later posted a video of the protestors being arrested outside the Russell Office Building.
Gillibrand is a senior member of the Armed Services Committee.
Group members joined Reps. Cori Bush (D-Mo.), Summer Lee (D-Pa.) and Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.) earlier in the day to say “pauses” in the fighting between Israel and Hamas are not enough.
The resolution “urges the Biden administration to immediately call for and facilitate deescalation and a cease-fire to urgently end the current violence; and calls upon the Biden administration to promptly send and facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.”
In October, over 100 people calling for a ceasefire were arrested outside of Gillibrand’s New York City office, according to Spectrum News NY 1.
On October 11, Gillibrand expressed support for calls for military aid to Israel, including the replenishment of Iron Dome air defense system missiles
