Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Parents has urged SA government to close down and review liquor licence after over 20 underage learners got killed at birthday party in Enyobeni tavern in East London. (Read More Here).
The department of Community Safey in the Eastern Cape have confirmed that all the learners who died at Enyobeni Tarven in East London were ALL underage.
A parent said: “As parents, we are pleading with government to intervene and close this place and the liquor board should review the liquor licence of the place. As there is only chance of premises. Even RDP houses have two doors in case of emergency situations…”
The incident allegedly occurred during the early hours of this morning. Authorities are investigating the cause of the deaths.
Earlier reports stated police were investigating the deaths at least 22 people.
It is still unclear what led to the multiple deaths.
According to Eastern Cape Transport spokesperson Unathi Bonqosi, who is at the scene, they are still trying to determine the exact number of people who died.
“It is no less than 18 people who have died in this incident,” Binqose told News24.
According to the venue’s Facebook page, on Saturday they had an all-black themed party celebrating two people’s birthdays.
Police and emergency services are currently still at the scene.
