Ondo State police officer has given full details about the explosion in Akure, which happened in the early hours of Saturday, 28th March 2020.
In a video, he said: “In the sense of purchase of acquiring them and they are duly escorted by the personnel of the police ordinance explosion department(EOD).
The department that is equipped, is trained to discharge the responsibility of taking care of bomb situation of explosives of any kind.
And, this consignment was been duly exported but unfortunately along the road here, the vehicle developed fault and when the driver noticed it..
Infact from the explanation of the escort commander, they had to try to move away from where there were houses, so that they could put off the problem.
That was when they immediately parked and came out and noticed that smoking was exhuming from the engine.
In his effort to put it off, to control was not possible rather it was fire.
Of course, they had to move away from the scene and the normal professional drill”

UPDATE ON THE AKURE EXPLOSION: A Driver of a truck conveying explosives for a quarry company noticed smoke was coming out from the consignment, he managed the truck to a less populated area and ran out of the vehicle.
