An Ohio man who fatally shot his three young sons — ages 3, 4 and 7 — admitted to planning the horrific killings and lined them up before executing them with a rifle.
Chad Doerman, who is also accused of wounding the boys’ mother at the family’s home, has been charged with aggravated murder.
One of the boys tried to flee into a nearby field, but his father “hunted” him down and brought him back to their home before killing his son.
Deputies responded to the home in Monroe Township shortly before 4:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a pair of 911 calls, one apparently from the mother who was screaming that “her babies had been shot” and another from a passing motorist who said a girl was running down the street saying her “father was killing people,” a news release from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office said.
The deputies found three boys, ages 3, 4 and 7, outside the home with gunshot wounds and tried to save their lives, but the children died at the scene.
Chad Doerman, the 32-year-old Ohio father arrested Thursday after allegedly gunning down his three young sons, “just snapped,” his father told The Post Saturday.
Keith Doerman, 59, who now lives in Port Richey, Florida, with his wife, Gloria, 58, said they are both “still trying to comprehend” how Chad could have murdered his own children but added that “we have no answers.”
“He just snapped,” the elder Doerman told The Post Saturday.
“There was something going on in his life that he couldn’t handle no more. I can’t talk to him, they aren’t letting me talk to him so I don’t have any answers. He probably hid a lot of stuff from me.”
Harrowing police bodycam footage shows the moment officers came upon Chad calmly sitting down next to his rifle Thursday afternoon after allegedly shooting his three young sons to death.
The boys were ages 3, 4 and 7. The sheriff’s office said the 34-year-old mother, who was not identified, was outside the home and had suffered a gunshot to the hand. She was transported to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Doerman was found sitting on a stoop at the home and was taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned on three counts of aggravated murder Friday, when a prosecutor said in court that Doerman had admitted lining the boys up in the yard and shooting them.
Officials have not released a motive behind the shootings.
