Another tragic incident has occurred on the same day today. First, it was gas plant explosion at Agbor, Benin-Asaba-Delta road. According to reports, over 12 people were reportedly burnt alive by the gas plant explosion. (Read More Here).
In the evening on Saturday, over 45 people recorded dead in Akungba Road accident caused by a Dangote truck/trailer. According to an eyewitness, he said that the Dangote truck and a car almost bumped into each other.
He continued by saying that the Dangote truck lost control while trying to avoid ramming into a moving car. The tragic incident happened at the front of Adekunle Ajasin University’s (AAUA) main/first gate. While trying to avoid bumping into the moving car, the truck lost control and rammed into shops at Akungba Market, Akoko.
According to reports, over 45 people were killed in the accident. 15 of them were reportedly students while others were passers-by, buyers and shop owners. Popular Twitter users and students of AAUA; Topmost (Oluwaseun Ojinni) and Omo Benayo were killed in the accident.
Nigerians have taken to their various Twitter pages to pen painful condolences to the families of the Akungba accident victims. Most Nigerians are currently calling on Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to help fix the roads.
