Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Nationwide Total Power Blackout at JKIA, Nairobi, Kenya.
Photos and video clips uploaded on social media by some users depicted the busy airport in total darkness including in the terminals.
The blackout, which is the second in less than two months, was likely part of the power outage that rocked most parts of the country.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a source familiar with matter noted that only terminals 1A and 1E were affected.
“It is a national blackout but did not affect the entire airport. It only affected Terminal 1A and Terminal 1E,” the source explained.
“That was sorted and the power was restored. The other parts of the airport were not affected. The power was out for about 15 minutes.”
“The other parts of the airport including Terminal 1B, 1C, ID and Terminal 2 were not affected. That also includes the State Pavillion,” the source added.
Kenyans on social media have blasted the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) after another power outage affected the country’s main airport, the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Saturday evening.
In a statement, KAA said JKIA was affected, but it took 8-20 minutes to restore power to the busy airport.
