Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that MiG-23 fighter jet crashed into an apartment building in Michigan during Thunder over Michigan Show.
Pilots ejected from a MiG-23 fighter plane shortly before it crashed during the Thunder Over Michigan show on Sunday, video shows.
Authorities told FOX 2 Detroit that the Soviet-designed MiG-23 crashed near an apartment complex near Belleville Road off I-94 at around 4:30 p.m.
The air show posted an update to Facebook saying the show was being paused after the wreck.
‘Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a situation that requires us to stop the show,’ they wrote.
‘Please make your way into your vehicles and calmly make your way out of the airfield.’
‘Please be patient as we control traffic around the area.’
The FAA is investigating the crash. The pilots were transported to a local hospital, where they are expected to recover.
A man named Dan Filer was listed as one of the pilots in the program for the air show.
Authorities confirmed the crash happened near the Waverly on the Lake Apartments, according to Fox 2. The aircraft crashed into unoccupied vehicles in the apartment complex’s parking lot, WDIV reported.
Photographer Scott Belanger captured the moment the plane began to catch fire in mid-air.
It’s unclear if there were any other injuries resulting from the crash. As of now, there are no casualties.
Footage also shows fire briefly coming out of the aircraft.
Thunder Over Michigan announced the end of the air show on Facebook shortly after the crash.
The two-day event was the 25th Thunder Over Michigan show.
