Kenny Kunene gets into a heated exchange with the caretaker of Park Lane flat who is refusing to disclose the owners of the property.
Kunene alongside members of the mayoral committee are currently issuing warnings to Hillbrow residents living in dilapidated buildings.
Information reads: “Altercation between Acting Joburg Mayor Kenny Kunene and a caretaker of a building in Hillbrow. The mayor can be heard saying “You are lucky there are cameras”.
In one of the units there are three families sharing the space. They say rent is R2500 -R2700. They share a kitchen and bathroom. Some of the owners Kunene speaks to claim their units have been hijacked.
Acting Joburg Mayor Kenny Kunene concludes his inspection of ParkLane Building in #Hillbrow. He says officials will meet with owners at 9am tomorrow morning to address the condition, non-compliance of the building & non-payment of rates.
Earlier Kunene invited media to tour Casa Mia building. He mentioned the it during interviews earlier today as one that’s non-compliant, posing a health & safety risk for occupants. There are holes in the floor & rubbish inside of the building.
