Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, seems to be the only sensible Governor in Nigeria after he made a strong decision on social media bill regulation yesterday.
Yesterday, Gov. Seyi Makinde inaugurated the Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry into Police Brutality, Violation of Rights of Citizens and Unlawful Killings which consists of 11 members. This panel will look into the killings of End SARS victims, such as: Isiaka/Isiaq Jimoh, Ganiyu Moshood Alabi and Adeoye Taiwo.
Governor Seyi Makinde also assured Nigerians that the killers of the aforementioned deceased will be brought to book through the Judicial panel.
On Twitter, here’s what he said about the social media bill: “I also certified the the misrepresentation of the position of the Southwest leaders on the so-called social media bill.
Contrary to media reports, our position remains that since we already have an extensive Cybercrime Act, 2015, we don’t need any other bills to regulate social media.”
In the video, he said:
“So should anyone choose to sponsor such (social media bill), I should categorically be counted out.”
