A few days ago, leaders across the globe arrived at Elysee Palace for Peace Summit organised by the French Government. One of the attendees was Ali Bongo Ondimba.
At Elysee Palace, Ali Bongo Ondimba, arrived with his entourage. In the trending video, Ali Bongo Ondimba, was seen as he was helped by his aide to get off from his car.
He began to walk up the stairs as he exchanged greetings with French President, Emmanuel Macron.
While standing on a pavement close to the entrance of Elysee Palace, President Ali Bongo Ondimba, almost missed his steps, but was helped by Emmanuel Macron, who used his hands to support him.
The video has gone viral and it has caused stirs on social media. According to information, President Ali Bongo Ondimba is suffering from a stroke.
Alot of Africans were angry at the fact that African leaders find it difficult to step down, even in sickness or due to in capabilities.
Biography of President Ali Bongo Ondimba:
Ali Bongo is the son of Omar Bongo, who was President of Gabon from 1967 until his death in 2009. During his father’s presidency, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1989 to 1991, represented Bongoville as a Deputy in the National Assembly from 1991 to 1999, and was Minister of Defense from 1999 to 2009. After his father’s death, he won the 2009 Gabonese presidential election. He was reelected in 2016, in elections marred by numerous irregularities, arrests, human rights violations and post-election protests and violence. Bongo is also president of the Gabonese Democratic Party.
