Nigerian filmmaker Kemi Adetiba recently praised actress and producer Funke Akindele for her groundbreaking achievements in the Nigerian film industry. Adetiba shared a list of the top three highest-grossing Nigerian movies, with Akindele’s films, “Battle on Buka Street” and “Omo Ghetto: The Saga“, taking the top two spots. Adetiba’s own film, “The Wedding Party,” ranked third on the list in terms of box office earnings.
Adetiba captioned the screenshot of the list with a flower emoji and tagged Funke Akindele, expressing admiration for her accomplishments. Funke Akindele has consistently broken records in the Nigerian film industry and continues to make waves.
According to reports, Akindele’s latest movie, “Battle on Buka Street,” surpassed the box office record set by her 2020 film, “Omo Ghetto: The Saga.” “Battle on Buka Street” earned 640 million naira, surpassing the 636 million naira earned by “Omo Ghetto: The Saga.” Film One, in an Instagram post, mentioned that Akindele’s only competition seemed to be herself.
