In the early hours of Saturday morning, it was reported that a fuel tanker lost control and fell off into a ditch at Ekulu-Bridge, Abakpa-Nike in Enugu East local government area of Enugu state, which killed a young woman. The fuel tanker also damaged a tricycle, but glory be to God, nobody in the tricycle was killed.
After the incident took place in the morning, the governor of Enugu State visited the scene with his aides. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi heads rescue operation at an accident scene on Abakpa bridge, where a fuel tanker lost control and fell into a ditch.
One casualty was sadly reported from the event.
The Enugu State Government, through SEMA and the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure also used a crane and manpower to remove the accident vehicle so that the road can be accessible to other road users.
After Governor Ifeanyi showed up in the afternoon, many people began to commend him. An bystander reached out to Kossyderrickent and expressed disgust in Governor Ifeanyi’s late visit.
“This incident happened in the morning till afternoon nothing was done to create way for motorists knowing that the area is a high populated.
I don’t see the reason the governor has to visit the place, instead of him to building bridge at thinkers corner for easy access to the area.
The traffic today was something else, people spend hours on traffic today,” the bystander says.
