The identity of the main suspect in Thomas’ murder becomes clearer. Placed in police custody on Wednesday, as well as eight other people suspected of having participated in the fatal attack committed last weekend during a party in the village of Crépol (Drôme), the young man, Chaïd A., aged 20, was educated in a vocational high school a few hundred meters from the one where Thomas was doing his Terminale class, Le Figaro learned , confirming information from Le Parisien.
Chaïd A. was fined 250 euros for concealment of theft and 200 euros for being arrested in the street in possession of a knife. The young man did not have a permanent job. He lives with his mother in an apartment in the town center of Romans-sur-Isère and “hangs out at La Monnaie with a group of around thirty young people” , residents tell Le Figaro . “They’re playing small hands for the two big drug dealers in the neighborhood ,” adds one of them.
To explain the fight, the suspects evoke a provocation. One of Thomas’ friends allegedly approached one of the members of the group by pulling her hair and calling her “chiquita” (girl), in reference to the eponymous song by rapper Jul, according to Le Parisien . Chaïd A. denies being the author of the fatal blow to Thomas. The nine young men currently in police custody are expected to remain in custody until midday on Saturday.
Note that the nine suspects placed in police custody will be presented to the Valencia public prosecutor’s office on Saturday November 25, 2023 at the beginning of the afternoon, with a view to the opening of a criminal judicial investigation, BFMTV learned from a judicial source.
