Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Rixxos Lounge owner, Jaymo, declared wanted after threatening to kill and refusing to pay female employees as he brags about knowing president.

“The National Police Service has taken note of a distasteful video clip circulating on social media showing a man alleged to be the owner of Rixxos Lounge in Kitengela harassing and threatening a female employee demanding her unpaid salary,” said NPS.

“In accordance with the National Police Service to serve and protect all citizens we have commenced our investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, we are urging the lady in the video to file a formal complaint at any police station to enable the police take the most appropriate legal action into the matter.”

In the video which has been trending on Twitter since Wednesday afternoon, the man can be heard hurling insults at the female attendant while explicitly stating that he will not pay the woman what he owes her.

He goes as far as telling the woman that she can’t do anything to him since he is allegedly ‘close’ friends with President William Ruto.

“I am not paying you. Mshenzi wewe, kwani unadhani unaeza nipeleka wapi? I talk with the president, my friend,” said the man while pointing to what was presumably a picture of him and President Ruto on his phone.

“You can’t take me anywhere; I talk to the president directly. Mimi nikisema nikukalie saa hii utaenda na kesi mbaya. Utakuwa unanipigia simu unanibeg. Nishakuambia sikulipi.”

According to information, Police raided Rixxos Lounge in Kitengela over an alleged harassment incident.

There is a case in Nairobi that will certainly open the Pandora’s Box and by the time it is dispensed with in the next few months, we shall have an idea of how corruption networks in the Land Registry works.

It is the story of an “intricate web of a fraudulent syndicate” — to use the Court of Appeal’s description — that involves family members who, with the connivance of officials at the Ministry of Lands, made different titles to the same piece of land and charged it to different banks.

For that simple act, they walked away with hundreds of millions of shillings from various banks without raising any alarm. With the money, they purchased Nairobi’s Princess Hotel and they built a three-star hotel in Ngara, where Verckys Bar and Resort operates.

Caught in the web are lawyers, top banks and leading real estate agents and valuers. The family has told the court that the late President Jomo Kenyatta’s family was the one pressing the banks to prosecute them because one of their banks is an aggrieved party.

But so far, and the Court of Appeal observed as much, “it is perplexing that none of the perpetrators has been subjected to the criminal process.” The reason for this is that High Court Judge, Justice G.V. Odunga, stopped the Director of Public Prosecutions from investigating and arresting the perpetrators of the scam until some four civil suits filed in different courts are determined.

It all starts on April 10, 2010 when Mr Patrick Njuguna, Mr Edward Njuguna and Mr George Kireru — trading as Patrick Kang’ethe and Sons — went to Co-operative Bank and borrowed Sh166 million. They also gave out security for a half-acre parcel of land in Dagoretti, whose title was Dagoretti/Riruta/2289. That title was in the name of Mr Njuguna — who is father to both Edward and George. We shall call it Plot 2289 for the sake of clarity.

On September 10, 2010, a charge was registered against the title at the lands office and there was no encumbrance on it then, according to the papers filed in court. The original title was given to Co-operative Bank after the Kangethe family signed two charge agreements dated August 18, 2010.

With that, the Kangethe’s walked away with the money and never repaid it. Instead, they started what the Appeal Court terms as a “syndicate” that has left three banks on the verge of losing hundreds of millions of customers money.

Two years after they received the Co-op Bank cash, the Kangethe’s acquired a different title for Plot 2289 but this time in the name of Wardpa Holdings Limited, whose directors were the brothers Edward, George and their sister Gladys Njeri Kangethe.
