Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that 2 students got into fight at Heights HS; no threat of active shooter, County Judge Lina Hidalgo says.

The situation all centered around Houston ISD’s Heights High School located at 413 E. 13th Street on Tuesday afternoon, according to Harris County Pct. 1.

In a statement at Tuesday’s Commissioner’s Court, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said two students got into a fight and there was never a threat of an active shooter.

SkyEye video showed a large police presence outside the high school. ABC13 reached out to Houston ISD for more information.

“The Houston Police Department and @HISDPolice continue to investigate the threat, though no evidence was found to substantiate the threat,” the district said in a tweet.

No injuries have been reported and a sweep of the school has found nothing, according to the Houston Police Department. The school remained in lockdown, as did Hogg Middle and Travis Elementary schools.

“A threat was made against our school,” said Wendy Hampton, principal of the school in an email to parents. “As a precautionary measure, we went into lockdown mode. Houston Police Department and HISD Police are onsite and continue to investigate, though no evidence has been found to substantiate the threat. We take all threats seriously as the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority.”

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said during a meeting Tuesday the reports were prompted by “students that got into a fight.”

“I’m not leaving until I have my son come out,” she said.

Numerous parents have gathered, only to have police keep them two blocks away, but assuring them there is no evidence of a shooting.

Many parents expressed they were confused about where to go to pick up their kids.

“As if this isn’t bad enough?” said Shannon Velasquez, a parent. “I feel horrible. It’s a terrible feeling — to not know.”
