Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that DSS seen fighting with NCS over Godwin Emefiele’s custody in court today.
DSS officials took him after a physical fight with officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service in front of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The two government agencies were fighting over who was to take custody of the CBN’s former governor.
Emefiele was brought to court Tuesday morning by the DSS, which arraigned him on a two-count charge of illegal possession of arms and ammunition.
He pleaded not guilty, and Justice Nicholas Oweibo granted him bail in the sum of N20 million.
The judge also asked that he be remanded in the custody of the correctional service pending the perfection of the bail.
Emefiele was led outside the court by correctional service officials who were stopped by DSS officials who demanded they hand over the CBN governor.
On June 9, President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele and asked him to transfer his responsibilities to Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi, deputy governor, operations directorate.
The day after, the DSS announced that Emefiele was in its custody for “some investigative reasons”.
On July 13, a federal capital territory high court ordered the DSS to charge Emefiele to court if they have a foolproof case against him.
Hamza Muazu, presiding judge, had said Emefiele should be released on bail if he is not taken to a competent court within a week.
