Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks earned himself an ejection in Game 3 against the LA Lakers. NBA fans were left unimpressed after the forward refused to engage in the post-match media interaction.

Dillon Brooks has earned himself some degree of notoriety yet again. Having made a name for himself as a trash-talking defensive player, Brooks continues to don the role of a villain.

Based on the NBA’s reaction to other recent hits to that region — by Draymond Green, Joel Embiid and James Harden — don’t expect a suspension for Brooks (despite his history). While Brooks has a history of these things — he was suspended back in February for a shot to Donovan Mitchell’s groin — he didn’t aggravate the situation by running around and hyping up the opposing crowd like a wrestling heel, as Green did. Brooks also did not speak to the media after the game.

Brooks had a rough night up to that point. The Lakers’ game plan was to dare Brooks to shoot and he did, going 3-of-13. His rough shooting (and plenty of his teammates) was why the Grizzlies were down by as many as 29 in the first half.

As the third quarter began, James was dribbling up the court while Brooks guarded him. As the four-time NBA champion attempted a crossover move, Brooks struck him in the groin causing Bron to fall to the ground in pain. Though it is unclear whether the strike was intentional or not, officials conducted a video review and handed Brooks a flagrant 2 foul, which led to an automatic ejection from the game.

The forward’s most recent antics stem from shots taken at LA Lakers superstar LeBron James after Game 2. Brooks received an immense amount of backlash, but he seemed confident regardless.

Game 3 got off to a horrible start for Brooks, putting the Lakers in a comfortable position to win the tie. In a bout of frustration, Brooks managed to commit a nasty foul on LeBron James.

The Lakers would go on to win Game 3 111-101, taking a 2-1 series lead. This game also featured the highly anticipated return of Ja Morant, who was sidelined with a hand injury. Ja scored 45 points and added 13 assists and nine rebounds, though it wasn’t enough for the Lakers’ offensive onslaught. Anthony Davis lead the charge with 31 points and 17 rebounds, LeBron added 25 points and 9 rebounds, followed by D’Angelo Russell’s 17 points and Rui Hachimura’s 16 points.
