Desantis said in presidential campaign clip from San Francisco: “I’ve seen so much riff-raff just running around.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has released a presidential campaign video that was recorded in San Francisco while the Republican politician was in the Bay Area to fundraise. DeSantis describes seeing “riff raff” in the city and criticizes local leaders for “destroying” quality of life.

In a one-minute video on his official Twitter account, DeSantis stood at the corner of Geary Boulevard and Hyde Street and, with garbage and graffiti visible in the background and cars zooming by, said, “We’re here in the once great city of San Francisco. We came in here and we saw people defecating on the street, we saw people using heroin, we saw people smoking crack cocaine.”

The Republican presidential hopeful added: “The city is not vibrant anymore. It’s really collapsed because of leftist policies and these policies have caused people to flee this area. They don’t prosecute criminals like they do in most parts of the country.”

Although he didn’t name anyone specifically, DeSantis seemed to criticize the city’s top leadership, saying “they are doing it wrong here.” He claimed that many people who lived in San Francisco had moved to Florida within the past few years. He also complained that he saw “so many businesses boarded up and I’ve seen so much riff-raff just running around.”
