But Wright insisted he was “a little bit surprised” when he found out from Hawthorn list manager Mark McKenzie on Tuesday that the Hawks had met with the 20-year-old livewire.

Following the culmination of the 2022 AFL season, Mcstay chose to navigate free agency, thus ending his nine-year association with the Brisbane Lions. Subsequently, he entered into a contract with the Collingwood Football Club.
