 “Dad gave me two pictures and asked me to keep them” – Son of a Grab driver, Al- Fatihah Sharipuddin bin Shaari, who died in Elmina plane crash in, Shah Alam Malaysia, finally speaks.




Sharipuddin who hails from Arau, here leaves behind a widow, Suriana Muda, 43, and two children namely Muhammad Sharul Izuan, 16, and Nur Izzara Arissya, 9.


According to Maznah, the late Sharipuddin was a person who was very close to family members, well-liked by many as well as light-hearted.


“It’s true that I was surprised and saddened by his departure because he was really close and the last time I saw him was last Hari Raya Aidilfitri when he returned to the village.


“Sharipuddin is a former soldier and he used to work as a security guard at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar before migrating to Sepang, Selangor,” he said.


He said, the deceased migrated to Sepang to look for job opportunities following the economic uncertainty after the Covid-19 pandemic.


Meanwhile, Noorhidayah said she was grateful that the process of bringing her brother’s remains back to their hometown and the burial went smoothly.



“Allah has facilitated everything. It was already destined for him to return to Allah in this way, and many people were present to pay their last respects,” she said, adding that the family accepts his death as fate.


Noorhidayah, who will tie the knot next Friday (August 25), said her brother was a kind soul who always put the family first.

“During Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrations, he came home… we discussed my wedding reception… he said he wanted to return home early… indeed, he ‘returned’ early,” she said.


The final rites were held at the mosque and Muhammad Hafiz’s remains were buried at 4pm.


About 1,000 people attended the funeral including Deputy Finance Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong and Sidam assemblyman Bau Wong Bau Ek.


The crash also killed eight people on board the aircraft and an e-hailing driver. — Bernama.


The government will provide all necessary assistance to the families of the 10 victims who perished in the crash in Bandar Elmina yesterday, says PM Anwar Ibrahim.


“Currently, we are providing assistance for funeral arrangements, including facilities and accommodations.”


The Beechcraft aircraft that crashed near Elmina had a valid license and registration, says Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia CEO Norazman Mahmud.


He adds that the flight had adhered to Malaysia’s rules of air while travelling from Langkawi to Subang.
