Sakaja on Friday revoked licenses of bars and night clubs operating in residential areas, ordering the noisy establishments to stop playing music by 10PM.

Joe Muchiri feels with the ongoing drought, bad economy, corruption, crime, poverty and joblessness in Kenya, crackdown on night clubs in residential areas as ordered by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja shouldn’t be a priority.

Joe however admits noise in clubs should be regulated and bar owners should consider sound proofing their premises.

“Why can’t all those police officers be used in the right way, e.g. manning the roads, pathways, foot bridges and in traffics where side mirrors are stolen daily even in estates where people are being mugged day and night,” – Joe Muchiri

His sentiments follow Sunday night’s crackdown on several bars in a bid to implement Governor Sakaja’s Friday order of doing away with noisy bars in residential areas.
