Illinois-based Shah (56) fell to his death from a height of 20-ft when the wires of an iron cage contraption carrying him snapped. Sources said his condition continued to be critical till late on Saturday night.

Shah was treated at a hospital but later died, outlets including CBS News reported. His colleague suffered multiple injuries and remained in critical condition until late Saturday, unnamed sources told The Times of India.

Vistex CEO Sanjay Shah and the firm’s president, Vishwanath Raju Datla, were being lowered onto a stage in an iron cage designed to look like the gondola of a hot-air balloon when a cable appeared to snap, a video posted by The Times of India showed.

In the video, the two men can be seen falling out of the cage and plunging about 20 feet to the stage.

The plunge occurred Thursday at the Ramoji Film City studios in Hyderabad at an event to celebrate Vistex Asia’s silver jubilee.

“It took close to 15-20 minutes for the event organisers to arrange an ambulance to transport the injured to the hospital. We had to transport Raju Datla in our car,” the complainant told police.
