A Canadian paramedic was left devastated after learning that a person she was desperately trying save was her daughter, who was involved in a terrible accident that left her unrecognizable.

According to DailyMail, Montana Erickson, 17, and a friend were involved in a car accident back on November 15 after they lost control of the vehicle and was hit by an oncoming truck on an Alberta highway, north of Calgary.

Her injuries were so severe that her own mother, Jayme Erickson, didn’t recognize her when she showed up to the scene. She tried to keep the girl ‘alive as she lay trapped in the car.’

When Jayme returned home from her shift, she received a knock on the door from the authorities about five minutes later.

The police informed her that the

the teenager she was trying to save in the car accident was her 17-year-old daughter.

Jayme shared the devastating news in Facebook post on November 18: ‘My worst nightmare as a paramedic has come true. The critically injured patient I had just attended to was my own flesh and blood. My only child. My mini-me. My daughter, Montana,’ she wrote.

‘Although I am thankful for the 17 years I had with her, I am shattered and left wondering. What would you have become my baby girl? Who would you have been? I will never see you graduate and walk across the stage, I will never see you get married, I will never know who you would have been. I love you more than anything in this world,’ she continued in the Facebook post.
