A California father is looking for answers after his daughter was shot in the head while driving on the 101 Freeway last Saturday.

According to CBS News, Ronni Newt, 26, was driving on the freeway around 5:15 p.m. on December 17 when a car-to-car shooting occurred on the northbound lanes in Tarzana near White Oak Ave. Newt’s vehicle crashed shortly after the shooting, and her father, Robert Newt, stated that his daughter was on her way to hang out with friends after work. The family initially thought she was in a car accident, but when they arrived at a nearby hospital, they discovered she had been shot.

Multiple shots were fired at Ronni’s car, according to investigators, and she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and placed on life support. Doctors said Ronni wouldn’t make it through the night, but she proved them wrong. The family is now asking witnesses to come forward with any information about the shooting.
