The Inspector General Of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has announced the dissolution and redeployment of the Special Anti Robbery Squad across all formations of the 36 states of the Police Command.
The IGP made the announcement not too long during a press briefing. Here are the things he said:
1. The Special Anti Robbery Squad in Nigeria Police, otherwise known as SARS is hereby dissolved across all the formations of the 36 States of the Police Command, Federal Capital Territory, where they currently exist.
2. All officers and men currently suffering in the unit are to be deployed with immediate effect.
3. New policing arrangements to address the offences of armed Robbery and other violent crimes that fall with the mandate of the dissolved Special Anti Robbery Squad shall be presented in due course.
4. Citizens and Strategic holder Forum will be formed to regularly interfere to the leaders of the police at all levels and advise on police activities.
