Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency, and mandatory evacuation orders have been placed for several Northern California cities — and the storm is making it’s way down to the Southern parts as well.
It’s reported that a powerful storm is set to bring heavy rain, snow and flooding to the state that has been drought-stricken. The storm has been called a “life-threatening” bomb cyclone and tress in the San Francisco Bay Area have already begun to fall with heavy rains and flooding throughout NorCal, as the storm moves south.
According to the National Weather Service, several hour-long periods of moderate to heavy rain and strong winds are expected through Wednesday evening (January 4). It’s also said that rainfall rates may even get to over an inch per hour — causing flash flooding, mudslides and power outages.
