A 24-year-old substitute teacher was arrested after offering students $5 each to bully their classmate!
According to PEOPLE, Aadrina Smith was the P.E. Substitute teacher at North Caddo Elementary Middle School in Caddo Parish, LA when she got upset at one of her students for “snitching” on her to the vice principal. Smith believed that the female student told the VP that she had left work early the day before. So, in retaliation, she offered to give students $5 each to bully and tackle the poor girl while in gym class.
“This was out of retaliation,” Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Bia Roldan, tells PEOPLE. “The suspect was upset and thought the student had told the vice principal that she had left work early the day before. Whether or not the student did or not I don’t know. That’s what the motive was.”
Three out of the five students were able to actually touch the student. Authorities say Smith didn’t ultimately pay the children, but didn’t report the incident to the school or check to see if the student was okay. The sheriff’s office alleges video showed Smith speaking with the students and “appeared to congratulate three who participated in the battery,” according to a press release.
The female victim went home and told her parents about the incident, who then alerted the school. That school called the Sheriff’s department and Smith was arrested on five counts of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles and malfeasance in office. She was released on a $10,000 bond, but she has not yet entered a plea.
