24 people have died in Angelo informal settlement in Boksburg.
A gas leak in Boksburg has claimed the lives of at least 16 people in the Angelo squatter camp in Boksburg on Wednesday night, according to reports.
Details are still sketchy but emergency services are currently at the scene.
An Ekurhuleni emergency services official, who asked not to be identified, told News24 that “gas used by illegal miners” seemingly leaked
Sources say the death toll could be as high as 24.
The incident comes six months after the Christmas Eve gas tanker explosion in Boksburg, which left 41 dead and scores injured.
