23-year-old Carlos Lemont Jones II allegedly confessed to murdering his ex-girlfriend, 23-year-old Sha’Dayla Johnson, for ignoring his calls and text messages. He was arrested on Tuesday and charged with premeditated first-degree murder and deprivation of a firearm in Brevard County.

According to KIRO7 News, while Johnson was heading to work she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend. Court documents say her ex-boyfriend arrived at her home at 7:40 a.m. EST after waking up “in an angry state” since she wasn’t responding to his calls and texts. Her father, Torrance Clark, told police that her and Jones were dating for 5 months but broke up two weeks ago. He saw Jones in the driveway and then heard multiple shots. So he ran to see what happened and he discovered his daughter’s body lying facedown on the carpet.

Jones surrendered to police after his mother begged him to turn himself in. He allegedly confessed to the police that he shot her with a semi-automatic 9 mm pistol. When a Melbourne police officer asked him if he was remorseful for the shooting, Jones allegedly said “No,” adding that “if he had to do it again,” he also would have killed her father Clark, according to the affidavit.
