A teenager in Singapore, who was shamed on social media for calling Charles & Keith a “luxury” brand, has been invited to have lunch with the brand’s founders and tour its headquarters.

According to The Straits Times, Zoe Gabriel will be taking up the offer.

The 17-year-old was mocked on social media earlier this week, after she posted a video on TikTok of her buying a bag from Singaporean brand Charles & Keith.

She described the item as her “first luxury bag” and recorded herself unboxing and modelling the product.

Gabriel then posted a follow-up video responding to a comment implying that Charles & Keith could not be considered luxury.

She highlighted that the $79.90 bag is a luxury item to her, as it costs a lot for her family.

4. She also pointed out that there were times in the past when her family could not even afford things like bread.

“I can’t believe I got hate over a bag that I was so excited to have,” she said.

Charles & Keith told The Straits Times, “our heart really went out to Zoe, but we were so impressed with (how gracefully) she handled the situation, displaying wisdom far beyond her years and values that resonated with us greatly.”

Gabriel said she is very excited and grateful for the opportunity to meet the brand’s founders.
