University of Alabama basketball star weeps, and says “I love you more than you can imagine”, while being walked to a police car after being charged with capital murder.
According to Al.com, 21-year-old University of Alabama basketball star Darius Miles is one of two suspects charged with capital murder in the deadly shooting of 23-year-old Jamea Jonae Harris. Tuscaloosa police say the shooting happened around 1:45am on Sunday. Harris, the victim, was a passenger in a car when she was fatally shot. The driver approached campus police and informed them that someone had shot into his vehicle and he shot back. He said his return shot was in self defense. He may have struck the suspect but he was sure it wasn’t life-threatening.
After police chief Kennedy revealed to reporters that investigators interviewed multiple witnesses and watched video surveillance, they identified two suspects, then located and interviewed them, before being charged. One suspect, 20-year-old Michael Lynn Davis, was found to have indeed been struck by gunfire, Kennedy said, and had a non-life-threatening wound.
“At this time, it appears that the only motive was a minor altercation that these individuals had with the victim as they were out on The Strip,”Kennedy said during a press conference Sunday evening.
