Two rapists escaped from prison.
Two sentenced inmates, Siyabulela Khohliso and Athini Nothi Mzingelwa, escaped from Ngqeleni Correctional Centre in the Eastern Cape Region on April 27, 2023. Khohliso is serving a 10-year sentence for rape, while Mzingelwa is serving 8 years for the same offense.
The Department of Correctional Services, along with the SAPS, have launched a manhunt to apprehend the escapees. The public has been urged to contact the nearest police station if they come across the two offenders.
