Two members of a vigilante group in Nigeria were abducted and later found dead after being kidnapped by unidentified assailants.

The victims, Comrade Elochukwu and Abiriwa, were on duty in the Umuoru Uga village of the Aguata Local Government in Anambra State when they were taken on Monday.

Elochukwu’s body was discovered in the Akpulu area of the state on Wednesday, while Abiriwa’s body was found on Friday in Imo State.

The vigilante group has described the loss of Elochukwu and Abiriwa, who were working to protect their community, as irreparable.

The deaths occurred days after a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) called for a five-day “sit-at-home” boycott of the upcoming general election in the region.
