Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Tinashe revealed she was the actor for the little girl in the 2004 digitally animated ‘The Polar Express’.
The 30-year-old, who released her sixth studio album BB/ANG3L last week, said: “I was the motion cap… We shot it right here at the Paramount lot… I was in fourth grade and we had to come in everyday and wear these big motion capture suits.
“It was in the very early days of mo-cap technology, so it took them like four years to animate it, and if you watch that movie, the animation is so weird now. It’s crazy that it took them that long to make something that looks so weird.”
She continued: “We had all the little dots and the electrodes. It was a really cool experience, working with Tom Hanks.
Before making a name for herself in the music world, popular songstress Tinashe was known primarily as an actress, appearing as a motion-capture model in the 2004 animated film The Polar Express (she was just a motion capture model for the character and did not do any voice work). Now, it appears Tinashe isn’t all that fond of the film.
In a tweet posted last Friday (November 6), @sylvsaid posted a caption that read “The Polar Express is a long terrible movie about nothing and I really need y’all to be released from the shackles of thinking it’s great.”
Even though she’s used as the model for Hero Girl, the co-protagonist in The Polar Express, Tinashe agreed with these sentiments. “I’m literally in it and I kinda agree,” she said.
Written and directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks, The Polar Express chronicles a young boy who sees a mysterious train en route to the North Pole outside his window and is invited aboard by its conductor. The boy hops onboard, meeting other children as they embark on a journey to meet Santa Claus.
With the holiday season coming soon, The Polar Express is sure to be airing all over the place during the next two months.
