Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Twitter users blame Texas’ $7.25/hour minimum wage for creation of First fully automated McDonald’s in Texas.

A video from a food influencer is going viral showing an automated drive-thru and pick-up concept being tested at a McDonald’s location in Fort Worth. The videos from Foodie Munster on TikTok and on Instagram show a vertical conveyor belt with robotic racks serving customers their meal without any human interaction.

Foodie Munster says in his TikTok video, which has over 1.2 million views, that the automated concept may change the way Americans order McDonald’s “forever.” The video on TikTok is only 30 seconds long, showing quick glimpses of the drive-thru and a very minimal interior of the restaurant with no seating.

Over on Foodie Munster’s Instagram, the influencer says the restaurant is a takeaway and drive-thru only test concept. He says you can order on the McDonald’s app in the drive-thru or order ahead. Customers that order ahead go through a separate lane that serves them via conveyor belt. The scene is like something out of a hypercapitalist sci-fi world.

Foodie Munster’s only complaint: “Of course I did have to unbuckle to reach over and grab my food.”

The interior is small and has an ordering kiosk at the front with bathrooms and what looks like a counter to pick up your order. The place is designed specifically for grab-and-go.

It doesn’t appear to be fully automated since you can see employees working behind the counter and what appears to be the kitchen. MySA reached out to McDonald’s for comment. As with all deals (and in life), there are some caveats: It is only available through the McDonald’s App (but you can order them for delivery or pick-up) and only during the lunch and dinner menu times (between 11 a.m. and 10:30 p.m.). The double cheeseburger is different from the McDouble: They are both double-beef patties with pickles, chopped onions, ketchup, and mustard, but you get an extra slice of American cheese on the double cheeseburger. Boom, baby.

As a bonus, ordering those discounted double cheeseburgers also makes you eligible for a chance to win the elusive McGold card, which gets you free McDonald’s for “life.”

Rob told Metro.co.uk he was ‘so happy’ at the final result.

He explained: ‘I was ordering lunch from McDonalds and noticed that inside the Doordash app you can remove ingredients from a cheeseburger until there isn’t a cheeseburger anymore.

‘I was curious to see what would happen if I ordered a non-existent burger.

Rob, who works as a cartoonist, eventually plumped on a $1.89 cheeseburger.

But he unticked mustard, ketchup, onions, pickle, cheese, meat, the bun and – for good measure – salt.

He then took to Twitter to eagerly await the order alongside his thousands of followers.

When the delivery arrived – after some minor confusion at his nearest McDonald’s – the bag contained nothing but an empty wrapper.

‘I expected McDonalds to cancel the order, or assume I’m an idiot who doesn’t understand delivery apps and send me a regular cheeseburger.

‘I was genuinely surprised to not only get a wrapper, but a wrapper inside a sealed paper bag!

‘I got exactly what I paid for, which was nothing. I was so happy that everyone involved understood that I wanted nothing, and they delivered nothing. I was also a little hungry because I didn’t order any lunch.’

Rob’s McDonald’s journey captured the interest of Twitter users who had swarmed to follow each and every development to the exciting saga.
