A 22-year-old man has been arrested for murder in connection to a missing Mississippi college student.

Jimmie “Jay” Lee,20, was reported missing July 8 after friends said he visited someone in an apartment complex in Oxford, MS. He was last seen driving away from the complex. His car was found later at a towing company, but there was no trace of Jimmie. Police and the community have been searching for Jimmie for two weeks and counting. Police have now arrested Shelton Timothy Herrington, 22, for the murder of Jimmie.

Both were students at The University of Mississippi, Ole Miss, with both of them recently graduating this spring. There aren’t many details surrounding the investigation or arrest, but the Oxford Police Department released a statement saying Shelton has been charged and no bond has been set.

“Shelton Timothy Herrington Jr., 22, from Grenada, MS, has been charged with murder,” the social media post from the Oxford Police Department states. “A bond has not been set at this time. This is still an ongoing investigation and updates will be given at a later date.”

Shelton’s lawyer, Carlos Moore, has also made a statement claiming his client is innocent and the investigation will lead to him being cleared of all charges.

“I have been retained to represent Tim Herrington along with Kevin Horan. Although he has been charged with a serious crime, he is presumed innocent. We will vigorously defend him and look forward to clearing his good name,” Moore said in a tweet.

Despite Shelton being arrested for the crime, Jimmie’s body has yet to be found. Police are still actively searching for his body.
