Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that a popular Tigrayan singer, Dawit Nega, dies in Addis Ababa at young age..(Read More Here).
According to information, Dawit going to rushed to the Addis Hiwot Hospital in Addis Abeba on Friday after “sudden illness”, according to BBC Amharic. “He was taken to hospital on Friday after suffering a flu-like illness last Monday and was being treated until Saturday.”
On Sunday afternoon, he was transferred to the ICU where he died around 7:00PM (Ethiopia time).
He was previously detained for ~3 months as part of the general rounding up of Tigrayans. There is yet no clear information about how he died, but many suspect the regime is behind his death.
Among Dawit’s famous single releases include ‘Ajokhi Tigray”, “Da’amena”, “Baba Ilen”, “Hidyat Mekelle”, “Wozamei”, “Zewidero”, “Bnetselai”, “Kadus Tsebaya” and “Chocolata.”
A sad fan wrote: “I am heartbroken to learn that the extraordinary talent Dawit Nega has passed away.
He was a voice of a generation.
My heartfelt condolences to Dawit’s loved ones and fans.
