Three ANC members are under a police investigation for allegedly soliciting a R600k bribe from the suspended Public Prosecutor, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, to make the Section 194 inquiry against her “go away.” A case of extortion has been opened.
A former cabinet minister is the one who allegedly handled the bribe negotiations and left behind a mountain of evidence including incriminating WhatsApp messages.
The criminal case was opened at OR Tambo International Airport Police Station on 2023-05-15 since the meeting where the bribe was allegedly solicited happened in one of the restaurants over there and it is case number CAS 90/5/2023. It is a case of extortion.
