Thomas Partey is one of the names being targeted by the Saudi League. Information from. (Read More Here).
Partey was a key member of the Gunners squad last season as they mounted a serious Premier League title challenge, making 33 appearances in the top-flight. However, the Gunners’ plans to strengthen their midfield this summer – amid links with Declan Rice and Romeo Lavia at West Ham and Southampton respectively – could well lead to the Ghana international moving on, with Fabrizio Romano claiming there is a ‘concrete’ chance that he will leave.
A new frontier is emerging in the Middle East in the Saudi Pro League. Governmental interest has flooded the division with cash, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision to join Al-Nassr last year opening the floodgates for seasoned veterans whose time at the highest level is winding down to make their move for one last monster payday.
Partey doesn’t quite fit that bill, but Saudi clubs aren’t exclusively targeting over 35s. Several Premier League stars including Riyad Mahrez, David De Gea, Kyle Walker, and Wilfried Zaha have all been linked with moves to the Pro League, and surely Partey is a name that’d garner interest.
Arsenal are said to be confident of completing a deal for Rice, who would cost around £100 million ($128.1m), while Southampton prospect Lavia has also been monitored and could be targeted after the England international arrives. Arteta may plan to play the two together, meaning that Partey’s minutes may well be limited in 2023/24.
While the midfielder is still capable of competing at the highest level and among the Premier League’s most dominant midfielders when fit and firing, the sheer amount of cash that’d be offered to him if a Saudi club was to make a move would be tough to resist, especially if his minutes are set to dwindle next season in north London.
