The SIU is also looking into the records of Maps Maponyane who is close to Pheto.

According to the SIU, the seized Bryanston home formerly owned by Terry Pheto has a market value of R5-million.

The land on which the property sits was bought for R1,25-million in 2017.

It was developed for R3,75-million.

The money all came from the @sa_lottery. The SIU say investigations into Arthur Mafokate are entering the business end where he too will have assets seized if found to have unduly benefitted from the National Lotteries Commission.

A day after murmurs that Maps Maponyane was the next ZAlebs that was set to be investigated by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Legal SA took to Twitter to retract its murmurs. This is as it seems that the Twitter account aimed at pushing the story first without verification from the SIU.

Hence, the Twitter account retracted its previous report in a thread explaining that:

The tweet that Mr. Maps Maponyane is being investigated by the SIU in this regard and was directed by an unverified source by one of our junior writers. The tweet that Mr. Maps Maponyane has now been deleted and The Legal South Africa wishes to apologise to Mr. Maponyane.
